Filter within cities

Currently, I have specific city pages set up as sub categories so that I can have a filter option within that category. However, I would much rather have the specific city pages as Layout: List properties of city so that I can eliminate those sub categories to open up more options with those. However, I really need the ability to filter. Is there a way to set this up? If there currently isn't an option for this, would it be possible to do some customization to make it happen?

to add to this question, could I also just make sub categories not visible in the advanced search so that I can still show categories in advanced search and use sub categories as city pages?

Currently, in Layout: OS Property > List properties by City, OS Property doesn't show the Filtering form. But if you want to show the Filter form (with keyword, categories filtering) in that layout. I can help you to implement it.
