Using State and City as City and Regions

Hi,

Our site is specific to only certain areas (or regions) of a city. Our site is specific to only one city. So the Country/State/City drop-downs in search and other pages are not relevant to us. What we need is some kind of 'Area' or 'Region' drop-down.

For this one alternative that we have is, Use State and City as City and Region. From the manage states page in admin panel, we renamed state's name to city's name. In manage city section, we added different regions. Now, what we need is changing the labels for State and city in the search and other pages.

Please help us in this, let us know if our approach will work or suggest a better approach.

Also, is it possible to replace the state and city drop downs with an Ajax based autocomplete textbox.

Regarding to the labels problem, you can use Translation labels at back-end of OS Property to modify the words "state" and "city".
In the past, we had tried to replace the dropdown select list by ajax suggestion, but it had conflict with other extensions and templates, so we must use the dropdown lists like now

Thanks ! Editing the language files worked. Joomla's language override feature makes it a piece of cake !
