Language Switcher... nice but not nice? was created by Matthias Leu
Hi!
I read the documentation and installed Language Switcher as described. It is said in the osproperty documentation, that the advantage of native language switcher vs. (e.g.) Joomfish is, that content is searchable.
As a newbie to Joomla, I discovered a big disadvantage though: I was only able to configure the switcher to link any click on the small flag icons to the default homepage. What an absolute usability no-go...
Is there a solution to stay on the page where i am after i select another language in the switcher? In my opinion, if not, it is much better to use a 3rd party component, since most users prefer google for onsite-search to local search boxes anyway...
Thank you for any opinion!

Hi Matthias,
When you click on the link, the system redirect you to the home page (not only in OS Property component), it's the function of Joomla! core, it's doesn't relate to OS Property and we can't help you to solve this issue. I know with someone, it's disadvantage, but Joomla has their reason to make it.
We mentioned to the multilingual feature of Joomla because we want customer have the knowledge about that great feature of Joomla !CMS. OS Property is Joomla! component, and it inherits that functionality from Joomla, but please remember it can't overwrite to change the core of Joomla.
Sincerely,
Dam

In fact, you can use Falang to make the multilingual site with OS Property. But please remember, if you use Falang, the system won't be able to search with text box fields like keyword, address or custom text input box extra field. That is the disadvantage of third party component, and we should make the independent multiple languages feature for OS Property.
Thanks
Dam

Hi Dang,
thanks for the long answer!
I didnt want to say that this was a problem of osproperty, you are 100% right that this is joomla core related.
Just wanted to know your guys thoughts on it. Thanks for that!
Take care,
Matt

Hi Dang,
one more thing... I am having some problems with the language switcher and the slider element of your template.
Everytime I use the "Menu Items"-page to switch the Menu Item to "Default" (Column "Home" -> it will show the language flag instead of the grey star), the slider disappears from my page (any page).
I followed the instruction from your PDF, only that my menu items are not of type "Single Article", but "OS Property » Layout: Front page".
Thanks in advance!
Matt
