Yes, if you want Akeeba backup and restore, you need to have php > 5.3.

You have simpler way, zip the source code and upload into your host by ftp or file manager of hosting panel. Create database from your hosting panel. Import data through phpmysql from hosting panel. Extract the zip file from your hosting. Edit the file configuration.php. -> done

Nope, you don't need folder installations of Joomla. You only need export database from localhost and import it to the phpmyadmin of hosting for the database you created. It's simple

ok , so i have this /installation folder after i extract my akeeba backup file.xxxxx.jpa
, i dont use that?
i rename it to something else or deleted it. and use phpmyadmin to upload the localhost db?
