Redirects of component pages was created by channing meyer
Hello OSTeam & Community:
Our client have pages that has been indexed by Google, risingtidemartialarts.com/component/osmembership/?Itemid=0 and risingtidemartialarts.com/component/osmembership
These pages show four plans. However, we only want risingtidemartialarts.com/membership to be shown. Am assuming it has to do with the dynamic nature of MP.
We have tried Joomla redirects, cPanel redirects, and .htaccess redirects. They fail.
Also, have robots.txt set to nofollow which may not work now that these pages have been indexed.
Appreciate your assistance.
Channing

Hi Channing
I have to be honest that I do not know how Google found and index that page. Maybe it happened before you had the menu setup properly on your site (this page risingtidemartialarts.com/membership , I meant)
For the time being, I guess you will have to use Google Search Console to ask Google to remove that indexed page. As I do not have experience, I asked ChatGTP and it provides this answer chatgpt.com/share/68bf5a0c-1928-800a-b801-b51b72211459

Hi Tuan:
Thank you for you prompt response as usual.
1. Why does an MP page exist with all our published plans that can be indexed even though I have not either used a module or created a link to the page?
2. Redirects - Joomla likely cannot do this as I believe it only will redirect to expired/non-existing pages. Why does .htaccess not work for redirecting? I have tried a number of options.
3. I can ask Google to not index, lasts only for 6 months.
4. I can do nofollow, and have done so using the robots.txt. Not ideal for all folks using MP or any other dynamic component.
Thanks again sir.

Hi
1. That's how Joomla works. Even if you do not create any menu item, someone can still enter URL manually to access to any component installed on the site. In short, any installed/enabled component is accessible, even if you do not create any menu items to link to that component.
2. I do not know why .htaccess does not work. I do not have experience, but I believe you should be able to use redirect rule on .htaccess to perform redirection. So please try to search and keep trying and you should be able to come up with a solution

Will do. I have tried a few types of redirects, not successful yet and I am also not familiar with the language. Will keep you posted.
Thank you.
