Subscription Upgrade Date Changes was created by Jim Clementi
When a subscription is updated the resulting end/start dates are misleading.
Use Case:
Use Case:
- A subscription was created on 12-30-2-24 with an expiration date of 06-30-2025.
- The subscriber upgraded the subscription on 05-22-2025 for a 24 month membership which is currently active.
- The system changed the original subscription from ending on 06-30-2025 to ending on 05-22-2025 (the date the upgrade was submitted.
- The upgraded subscription is listed as having a start date of 07-01-2025 and expiring on 07-01-2027.
- The system correctly set the start date of the upgrade to begin after the original expiration of the current subscription and correctly calculated the 24 month end date.
- Since the system changed the end date on the original subscription, it appears that the first subscription ended on 05-22-2024, and the new subscription didn't start until 07-01-2025. The original end date of 06-30-2025 has totally disappeared! The gap created when the system changed the original end date is very confusing and lacks continuity.
- In my opinion the original end date should be never be changed!
- Since my system is new, I'm the only administrator, and current end dates are all on the same day, the results are predictable. Long term as the system grows, I believe this will lead to a lot of confusion.
