Oh it did not work.
Got this error on the form page as soon as I replaced the original file:
0
Class 'OSMembershipModelRegister' not found.
But when I added it to the override folder, all still works fine!

Replace is not right. You need to upload the file to components/com_osmembership/model/override folder (note the folder override in the path)
