We have set up a new version of our website on Joomla 4, what's the best way to move Membership Pro (complete with subscriptions) to the new site ?

Does membership pro (or any other Joomdonation extension) need to be removed/uninstalled before migrating/updating from Joomla 3.10 to Joomla 4.x? (Then reinstalled after migration update)

If all your extensions are Joomla 4 compatible then you shouldn't have to uninstall.
We didn't go the upgrade route as we had extensions that were not compatible, so we set up a clean install of Joomla 4, installed compatible extensions then transferred the relevant data. The version of Membership Pro we installed on the new site was the same version as the old site and the data transfer was relatively straightforward (as above) I think that the clean install route is a better option if you can go that way. We were able to fine tune the new Joomla 4 site while still keeping the original site running, the actual change over only took 20 mins or so meaning our site was only down for a short time.

All of our extensions are Joomla 4 compatible (run on both Joomla 3 and Joomla 4), so if you have latest version of our extensions run on your site, then no need for uninstalling before upgrade and then installing it again
For third party extension, if there is any extensions not compatible with Joomla 4 (especially any system plugins), you can disable these extensions before updating to Joomla 4 and then enable it again after updating if needed
Of course, you should make a full backup of your site before updating. Better, prepare a copy of the site and try to run the update first to make sure it works before doing it on your live website

Tuan
