New subscribers get the following error when they click on the link in the verification email - The server returned a "500 - Whoops, looks like something went wrong."

The activation is handled by Joomla core, not Membership Pro, so there is something wrong on your site here. You can go to System -> Global Configuration, set Debug System config option to Yes
Then access to the link again and send me screenshot of the error page. Maybe there is some useful information about the error displayed there and we will know more about it

All sorted now, it was the template causing the problem. I created a new template using Template Toaster and it's working fine!
