Change recurring payment method

Change recurring payment method was created by Nathan
Hello,

We currently have recurring subscriptions set up with Stripe payment method but Stripe has been giving us issues for a while now and we would like to change payment processors.

How do we go about doing this? Are our current customers "locked in" to stripe and we will have to wait for them to expire and ask them to resubscribe? If so do we need to create an entirely new plan with a new payment method or can we just change the payment method of the existing plan? (We have membership pro set up to create a new subscription on renewal if that matters).

Appreciate any advice as the situation is quite frustrating.

Hi Nathan

If you want to change payment method for recurring subscription like that:

1. You need to ask your existing subscribers to cancel his current recurring subscription

2. Then subscribe for the plan (could be the same plan) using new payment method

Is it possible just to change the payment method on the plan then wait for them to expire and have the customer do renewal then instead of having them all cancel beforehand?

No, it is not possible. if they do not cancel the recurring subscription, they will continue being charged by payment gateway and their subscription will continue being renewed properly
