Ignore Article Restriction feature if Article is Featured

Is there a way to display the full contents of an article in a restricted category if that article has been featured?

I want to use the standard Joomla Featured article setting to let potential subscribers see full samples of my web sites contents. As it stands now the featured article will display the content-restricted-message.

In this case, I think you can just do not restrict access to that article. Or I mis-understand something here?
