New registration but password not working

Hi
I am getting multiple new registrations where the log in credentials are not giving access. And the password reset also functions but again does not allow access. I have to do  manual password change in J User profile to get it working. Is this a known issue please?
I am using the MP registration form and login.
This is a new problem for a mature system.

I am monitoring at the moment. I did a test and the system working. I am dealing with user behavior here, so anything might be going on
