I did all of that and still emails are neither sent nor logged.
Thank you for the offer to check on the live site, but that would be great for me to fix that before putting the site online.

Let me add something: I noticed that the emails are neither sent nor logged when a user upgrades from a plan to another; everything works if the user subscribes a plan, I mean not upgrading.
