Multiple contacts on a subscription was created by Adam Larsen
I keep running into a situation where the proper person isn't being notified about something we send about their subscription.  It's not an issue with the mail server or anything...it's an issue of only being able to have one e-mail address associated with a subscription.

For every subscription, we have up to 3 contacts within the same organization:
  1. Billing
  2. User
  3. Technical
Sometimes the user and technical contacts are the same person, but they are often not.  The billing contact is usually someone else entirely.  What it really comes down to is that we send two kinds of updates: 1) Subscription renewal notifications (automatically, obviously, through this great plugin).  This generally should go to the billing contact.  2) Updates to the digital asset we are selling.  This should go to the user (who uses the asset) and the technical contact (who installs and/or configures the asset).

Depending on how the customer has signed up, one of those three people will be the person receiving ALL of the notifications.  If the update doesn't seem to apply to the receiver, they will just delete it, thinking that the other people involved are getting it too.

We have tried being explicit in our communications that they are the only person receiving this message, but we are still running into situations where the user suddenly cannot use the asset (because renewal notifications were trashed) or that they have an outdated version of the asset installed (because update notifications were trashed).

Super long way of asking, is there a way to attach secondary e-mail addresses to a subscription so the mass mail feature will send to all of these people?  A custom field that is then added to the To: field of each message?

If there's no way to do this, can anyone think of a workaround that keeps me from having to export addresses and use some other mailer?  I really like being able to mass mail right from MembershipPro.  We have over 1,000 users, and the thought of having to export them and massage the list for each message is daunting.

So you want to :

1. Add a second email field to subscription form

2. That second email field will receive every email, same with main email:

- New Subscription Configuration
- Reminder Emails
- Mass Mail

It's not supported. But it could be customized to have it works like that, but of course, we will have to charge you fee to do these customization

Sure, I'd be open to seeing what that would cost. I think it's something that others may want in the future as well, so it's certainly something to consider for the core project.

I think the idea here is to create a custom field on the subscription level that is a semicolon- or comma-separated list of addresses to CC the e-mails to. That custom field gets rolled forward to new subscriptions when the expiring one is renewed. Then when any of those 3 e-mail types goes out (new subscriptions, reminders, or mass mails), that CC address is included in the outgoing mail. Does that make sense? And we'd want it future-proofed so updating the plugin doesn't remove this customization.

Hi Adam

I think we can implement something like this:

1. Add a new setting to custom field called Receive A Copy Of Subscription Emails which can be set to Yes/No

2. Then when the system send emails (subscription emails, mass mail, reminder emails), these emails will be BCCed, so they will receive a copy of email

Implement something like this will cost 100$. And Yes, it will be safe to update to future releases of the extension (I will see if I should add to core package, if not, we will implement the customization to your site using override so that it is safe to update)

Tuan

OK, great. I would like to pursue this then, regardless of whether you decide to add it to the core plugin.

Please let me know next steps. Feel free to DM or e-mail me regarding any agreement or payment needed.
