Mailchimp integration: subscribe to newsletter checkbox

Hi,
I have set the "show subscribe to newsletter" to yes so that the new subscribers will only be added to the Mailchimp list if they check that box (frontend), as I understand things.
Now, in the backend, I do not find this checkbox when I add subscribers myself.
So I added a new custom field named "subscribe_to_newsletter" having "1" as value.
Is it the right way to add subscribers to the Mailchimp list from the backend?

I would say it should be handled automatically by the extension without having to create custom field like how you did. The system should show the checkbox to allow admin to choose (checked by default)

Could you please submit a support ticket so that I can you the updated package for testing?
