Admin-managed membership upgrade or other workaround? was created by Alison
Hi Tuan
Is there a way for admins only to manage upgrades from the back end? Our situation is as such, and I want to incorporate it for the membership certificate printing:
We have a basic membership plan for Associate Members. Some of our members have already fulfilled academic criteria submissions to be Full Members. There is no fee change, just additional rights, such as voting rights and appearing first on membership directory listings etc.
I set up a rather nice certificate for members to print themselves - we used to do this at our office and mail it to them, so the issue of what type of member they are wasn't of concern as we could manually change it.
I set up a Full Member plan and set the Associate Member plan to upgrade to it at no charge. However, this plan should not be available to any member to simply upgrade for free, they need to have fulfilled the submission criteria first. At the moment it appears as a free option for members to simply just choose, and it processes automatically as there is no pending approval option for the admin. Hence unqualified members could print certificates as Full Members.
I can't find a way to process a back-end upgrade - unless I am missing something? It would be wonderful if it was admin only, and I have played a little with the access and so on but can't seem to get it to work.
I thought I could perhaps work with
Many thanks,
Alison

I thought I could perhaps work with
- placing the plan in a new category (at the moment I'm not using categories) or
- perhaps assign these existing Full Members to a different Joomla (sub)group that is able to access the plan i.e. not the entire membership;
- it would, however, be useful to have the Full Member application form available for Associate Members who wish to apply for the Full Membership on condition that they have the board approval.
Many thanks,
Alison

Sorry Alison. We do not allow upgrading subscription from administrator area at the moment. Upgrade, if needed, must be performed by subscriber from frontend of your site, not backend

Thank you for your brief reply Tuan
Can you please advise as to the second half of the query, as I do not wish all members to be able to access the front end possibility of the free upgrade:I thought I could perhaps work with
Alternately, is there a way to force the plan to pending Admin approval?
Thanks very much.
