Notifications when doing Imports was created by Darlene
  1. If the a Joomla account is created for the subscription record, Joomla will send notification email to user about the account. If you don't want Joomla to send notification email (for example, when you run the import), you can edit the plugin User - Joomla!, change parameter Notification Mail to User to No during the import. When the import is done, you should turn it back to Yes again
The above setting controls whether the user gets a notification email when a Joomla account is created.  Is there something similar to send the administrator a notification email too?

What I am doing is bulk importing members from our old system.  The user notification is the only email that I see in total for this transaction.  I don't get any Membership Pro emails like when you pay for a subscription..  Am I missing something, some setting that would send out something to the administrator to let them know what is going on?

Is there somewhere that we can see (as an administrator) the email Joomla sent out, like you can do in  Membership Pro?

Thanks
Darlene

Hi Darlene

Joomla does not have log email feature, so you cannot see the emails sent by Joomla like in Membership Pro

Let me rework that discussion. I was mixing up two things:
1. Joomla and what it sends out when a new user is created and who it sends it to. Wrong forum for this.
2. Membership Pro and what it sends out - let me concentrate on this one.
- when a new subscriber is created using Membership Pro functionality, an email to the subscriber and to an administrator are sent out.
- when a new subscriber is created using Importing, there are no emails sent out to either the subscriber or the administrator.
- is there somewhere that I need to change a setting to allow emails to go out
- if not, perhaps this is something to put into the Features Wish List

I hope that explains it better - my wish is that one or the other would send to both parties - either Joomla or Membership Pro. Membership Pro is preferred because the emails that go out are far more informative and better in appearance.

I should also explain that the user does not exist in Joomla and the subscriber does not have any subscriptions in Membership Pro.  These are genuinely new users/subsccribers.

Hi Darlene

We do not send email during the import. The reason is because there could be multiple subscriptions imported at a time and if we send emails during the import, the import process would be timed out and could not be completed

If you want to send email, I think after subscriptions imported, you should go to Membership Pro -> Subscriptions, check on the checkbox next to the subscription records and press Resend Emails button in the toolbar to have email resent

Ah, that is a very cool way to allow the admin to do the emails if they wish!!
I didn't think of that. I totally understand cutting back on sending out the emails during the import process.

Thank you, this gives us another item in our "Tool Box" for choices when importing. Will do some thinking on when to use the Joomla user creation email (which we have edited to be more friendly) or when to use the Resend Mail.
Thank you again. The subscribers who have used the various parts of Membership Pro, from subscribing to editing user profiles to using forgot password are happy! We especially love the feature that auto logs them in.
