Importing our old membership code into the membership_id field - possible? was created by Darlene
I am importing subscribers/subscriptions from an older system. One of our old fields is a membership code of the form Annn, i.e. D125. This has been assigned manually.
Using Membership PRO on our new website, I would like to assign a membership code automatically. I am using membership_id to do this and it works very nicely.
However, I am trying to import the old membership codes of the form "D125" (Annn) into the membership_id field. When I do this, it ignores what I have in the import csv file and just places a 0 (zero) in that field.
To summarize, using the incrementing membership_id with the prefix works great, but I would like to import the old codes via my import csv files for existing members.
These codes are used in 25 years of newsletters and in many places on the website.
Is this possible to do?
I have tried several ways to do this with no success.
Thank you
Darlene

Hi Darlene
The field membership_id can only be used to store a number, so instead of entering D125, just enter 125 and it should be stored

Ah, I should have twigged to that when I saw membership_id and formatted_membership_id which incorporated the prefix with letters - ok, now that I know that I can try a new method of doing this.
Thank you Tuan. Your responses are always very clear and to the point.
