Code Customization (override)

Hi,
I have been trying to get the Code Customization (override) to work from this page  membershipprodoc.joomservices.com/develo...stomization-override but am unsure about how the empty class is placed. What I have tried does not work.

Does it get pasted first, and just the code changed or does all the code from the file get pasted. Can you show me an example of the php file code in a override file.

It is not really a page I can show you, it goes back to the thread (Allow duplicate email address) on only one email for more than one member and using the extension allow duplicate email. I have got it working by commenting out and changing one line in validator.php and validationtrait.php and would really like to have the override work so I do not have to change the code everytime there is an update. I have sent you the 2 files, that currently work. I have set up override folder in Modal and Controls as per instructions but do not know how the blank class lines appear or even if these files can go in the override. What I have tried do not work.
