When I cancel a subscription from the backend admin when stripe is the gateway with membership pro it shows the subscription has been cancelled and I have confirmed that it has also in stripe but for this cancellation I did not want to issue a refund. It shows the status as active still. Does that mean when the subscription runs out it will attempt to bill them again? I want it to be cancelled for good. I think it still shows active because although the recurring subscription was cancelled it does not run out for a few months. Do I need to unpublish it or change the status to "expired" manually in order to stop the subscription from being billed again? When I look at the list of subscriptions it does say "recurring cancelled" in red and the checkbox is green meaning it is still published and active. Just a bit confused. See screenshot. Thanks.

Hello Alex
The subscription is still active because the subscriber paid for that duration. When you cancel it, at the end of the duration, the subscription will be expired automatically
User won't be billed again as the subscription was cancelled in the payment gateway (Stripe) already
In short, you won't have to do anything

Tuan, Thats what I though but thanks for confirming. So if I switch the status manually that is if you want to cancel the subscription and not refund but also deny access? I am not currently usning this feature but will be on an upcoming project so just trying to work through the functionality. Many Thanks for clarifying what changing the status actually does.

Hello
Switch the status to expired will just change the status of that subscription without cancelling the recurring subscription
So if you want to do that, you will still have to cancel the subscription, then change status of the subscription to expired manually yourself
Hope it is clear

Thanks. The main reason I am asking is on a subscription that was cancelled an email was just sent out to the member that they would be billed in two days so they were concerned that they were going to be billed even though they had cancelled.
I am guessing this may be due to how I have the message reminders set up. I have a reminder set to go out two days before a subscription expires basically letting them know in two days they will be billed and if they are wanting to cancel before their card is charged they need to get in touch and let us know. For people that have cancelled is there a way to stop all reminders from going out to them specifically since they have already cancelled their subscription.
Will clicking the unpublish checkbox under the status column take care of that or what does unpublishing it do? I did notice just now a disable reminder action at the top that I can click so that may be all I need to do. If I disable a reminder but want to re enable it (ie it was hit on the wrong item) is there a way to enable it again?
Many Thanks

Hello
Are you using latest version of Membership Pro? When you cancel a recurring subscription, the system will stop sending reminder emails to this cancelled subscription
