Set Date of Recurring Payments with Stripe

Hi Tuan, hope you're doing well

I have a quick question regarding the process of Recurring Payments with Stripe.

Our use case is this:
We have yearly membership dues that can be paid ANYTIME throughout the year that will cover the calendar year and always expire 12/31.
We don't prorate the fee because it's so small already.

So if pay in March, I'm recognized as having a full 2020 membership up to Dec 31, even though I've paid in March.

When I set up recurring payments in Membership Pro, I have the recurring plan expire on 12/31 with 1 payment of $20. When the plan renews I would like to bill this customer and other existing customers on 12/31 for the upcoming calendar year of membership.

I'm finding that the customer who paid in March will be set up with annual billing in Stripe based on the date the first payment was made (in this case March).

I was hoping I could bill the customer based on the date of expiry of the Recurring Plan. Is this possible? Our use case may be a little out to lunch so I'm not sure this can be done, but thought I'd check.

Hi Tim

No, for recurring subscription plan, you cannot have recurring subscription starts as that fixed date. You also should not have expired date set in the plan for recurring subscription

Basically, the recurring subscription will be started at the date the subscribers sign up for the plan, and the next payment will be processed at next day/week/month/year (depends on subscription length of the plan)

In short, your requirement could not be doable
