How To Renew After Subscription Expiration was created by Oscar Ruiz
How do I configure Membership Pro so when a subscription expires the user can renew?
With my current configuration when a subscription expires the Joomla user changes from "Registered" to "Public" to prevent access to the site. The problem I am having is that a user cannot renew because "This email has been used by a different user. Please enter a new email" error message.
Please advise.
Thank you.

Hi Oscar
That's wrong configuration. Subscribers should not be removed from Registered to Public user group when their subscription expired. Instead, you should configure Membership Pro so that:
- When someone has active subscription, they will be assigned to a different user group such as Paid Members (this should be child group of Registered group)
- When someone has expired subscription, they will be removed from that Paid Members user group, thus belong to Registered user group
The key point is that they should remain on Registered user group so that they can login and renew their subscription if it is expired

Hi Tuan:
The idea of a paid membership is that only active users have access to privileged information. If the user remains Registered after expiration, then they will still have access to this information even though the subscription expired.
Am I correct with this logic?

You are wrong. For the privileged information, you should set access level to higher access level (like Paid Members or something like that) instead of set it to Registered
