Membership Subscription Plans based on country location

Hello.
We currently offer an International membership subscription plan as well as a local based one. This is to provide access to our international members so they can enjoy our member content online but are not able to attend our member events due to distance etc.
Is there any way we can restrict the renewing of our International Membership to those not based in our country easily?
For example: If we are based in the UK, anyone outside of that are entitled to our International Member Subscription but all members based in UK should not be able to choose this plan at renewal.
We have recently had a run on a few members renewing as the cheaper International Plan but who are still based locally in their address details.
I am trying to figure out a way to close off this loop hole easily

Unfortunately, there is no way to restrict subscribing/renewing to your subscription plans like that

When your subscription plans are created, anyone can subscribe for these plans. We do not have a way to prevent someone from subscribe for that plan, so it's not possible to do that

In your case, I think the only way to customize code of the extension to handle that requirement

If you think this is possible, please let me know.
Just really looking for a way that if their address country equals X, then the upgrade option of International Membership renewal isn't shown.
You have previously done me some customised code for our extension on what upgrade options are shown and these work so well but we have recently started getting members choosing the cheaper international rates
