Joomla user account not activating on payment

Hi

I am getting issues where new members are unable to login after paying membership via paypal. I have set the component to create user account when membership active/approved, not send an activation email and to auto login. When users email me with issues I have to go into the joomla user area and activate it.

Below is one of the emails I received from a user:
"my login hasn’t ever worked. The problem I had was that when I typed my email and password in, the website refreshed. If I tried to access another page, I received the message: “Warning Login denied! Your account has either been blocked or you have not activated it yet.” I paid for a subscription on 15/3 and was emailed back with a receipt (IV00419)"

How can I resolve this?

Hello Christina

The question is what payment method you are using? What's the status of the subscription record? Is it Pending or Active?

Using paypal and offline payment. When the user pays with paypal the subscription record becomes active, however the joomla user status is disabled and not activated.

Hi Christina

Maybe it's because your site requires administrator to approve user account manually. Go to Users -> Manage, click on Options button in the toolbar, set New User Registration Group parameter to Self

Then check it again. It should work OK
