Auto Logn for Paypal recurring subscription was created by Rob Smith
Hi,
I am using the paypal plugin for a recurring subscription.
I have set 'AutoLogin' to 'Yes' and 'Only Create User Account When Membership Active/Approved' to 'Yes'.
When people register an account by sigining up to a recurring subscription and payment through paypal: after the paypal payment, if they click on 'Return to Merchant' then they return to my site but to a logged out screen. If they try to log in immediately, then they get a no account found message. If they wait about 20 seconds then they can log in.
Is this expected behaviour ? Or is it a setting somewhere ? Its quite confusing for users.
Thanks

Hi
It's not normal but out of our control. Basically, after users complete payment at PayPal, the system needs to wait for notification from PayPal (PayPal needs to send a request to notify the system about this payment) before creating user account...
In this case, look like user is returning back to the site too fast (before PayPal notify the system about payment) and at that time, account is not created yet and it causes the error. As we depends on PayPal notification, we could not do anything in this case.

Thankyou for your response. Could it be that the server that I am hosting joomla on is somehow delaying the message from Paypal to Membership Pro ?
Thanks

No, it's not. Maybe it's PayPal abit slow (in some cases, not always)

on further investigation, this is happening every time (ie not just in some cases).
Its really quite confusing for the user, as they sign up and pay but then cant log in.
Is there anything that I can check that could be causing this ?

As I said, we depends on notification from the payment gateway back to our system after payment completed. It takes sometime, and out of our control, unfortunately
