Restrict Registration by country or region

Is it possible to prevent registrations from outside of a particular geographic area or region? I've just begun to get spam registrations and would like to limit (geofence) registrations to a particular area (preferably a single US state). I'm sorry if this is something you've already covered. I've looked through all of the configuration settings and didn't see anything that might allow me to do this.

To prevent spam, I would suggest you to setup and use captcha membershipprodoc.joomservices.com/basic-setup/enable-captcha
