Deleting a Subscriber was created by intouchweb
What is the best way to delete a subscriber?
We have members who are no longer eligible for membership and have decided to remove them from the system completely, however ideally we would want to keep the details of their past subscription history, paid invoices etc.
We also want to remove them to ensure they do not receive renewal notices as they are no longer eligible.

Would we just delete their Joomla account?
Is it actually possible to delete their MP Subscriber account?
If we deleted both would the past Subscription details still be retained?
What is the best practice here?

Just block their account via Joomla users manager

I did that Tuan but they still received the renewal notices (by the way this was unexpected and I feel should not be the case, blocked users should not receive renewal notices).
To keep the database clean and to avoid confusing them with renewal notices we would therefore like to remove them completely from the system. This also has the advantage that if they ever become eligible again in the future they can reapply as a new member without being told their account/email already exists.

Hello

1. To prevent these users from receiving reminder emails, you can edit his subscription records, set the following settings to Yes:

- First Reminder Sent
- Second Reminder Sent
- Third Reminder Sent

2. If you still want to remove them from the system, go to Membership Pro -> Subscriptions, delete the subscription records associated to the account. But if you do that, of course subscription history, invoices.. related to these subscriptions will be deleted

For the possible benefit of others, I ended up deleting the Joomla user accounts only. This appears to have given me what I was after in Membership pro and Acymailing ie the past membership data and invoice etc is still accessible but there is no user associated.

Just want to make it clear that deleting user account won't prevent the system from sending reminder email to subscribers

You still need to set First Reminder Sent, Second Reminder Sent, Third Reminder Sent... of each subscription record of this user to No to prevent it from being sent

Thanks Tuan, I appreciate you telling me that.
So these reminder settings for individual subscribers can be set to YES to stop any upcoming reminders from being sent (as in the logic that they have already been sent so don't send them again).
I feel this setting is a little confusing (even you said to set them to yes and then to no in your responses).
May I suggest a great small improvement here would be to add a simple config option above these existing settings that says "Send Reminders - YES/NO" with the default set at YES. This setting would override the global default and would be a small but good improvement... and easier to understand... thanks again!

First reminder sent is a setting to monitor status of first reminder for the reminder:

- By default, It's No
- When the system send reminder email to the subscription, it will be marked as Yes (automatically by the system)

So if you want to stop sending first reminder, just edit that subscription record and change that parameter to Yes manually yourself

That's same for third and second reminder sent parameters

I have done this by crippling the email address in Joomla User. I use a fictional address in our own domain, so any erroneous emails are returned. Changing the address in J users changes the address in MP and Acymail. Changing in MP does not always change the entry in Acymail, sometimes it creates a new account in Acymail
