Subscription reminder plugin question was created by Hilmar Schneider
The Membership pro Reminder plugin has a parameter for Number Subscribers ("the number of subscribers which we will send reminder each time the plugin run") . What does this mean? How often is the plugin run? The value is 10 and I have about 250 subscribers.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hello Hilmar
1. The plugin will be run every 2 hours
2. You can set it to 10 or 20, but should not be a too large number. The reason is because most hosting provider will prevent you to send too many emails within one hour (they might limit to 150 per hours)
Don't worry about 250 subscribers. The system will continue sending reminders until all subscribers receive reminder emails
Regards,
Tuan

Thanks. I just want to understand how it works. I should check my hosting company about email restrictions.

Hi Tuan,
Just wanted to confirm something to make sure I'm understanding. Let's assume that:
- The plugin runs every 2 hours (so 12 times per day)
- I have the Number Registrants setting set to 10
- I have 500 subscribers who I need to remind
In this scenario, is it true that it will take the system approximately 4.16 days to send all the reminder emails?
i.e. 500 / (10 * 12) = 4.16

Hello Matt
Yes. That's correct. For this case, you can increase Number Subscribers parameter to 50 or so to have the system to send more reminder each time
Also, if you should also contact your hosting provider, ask them and make sure they do not limit number of emails sent from your account per hour to a low number to make sure all of these emails could be sent

In my case the hosting company allows 250 emails per hour so I set subscribers to 100. It doesn't always run every 2 hours. I suspect that the virtual nature of shared hosting (with my hosting provider) means that the site only exists when someone connects to it.

The process is triggered if there is a request to access to your site (from real people or even spam bots)
If you worry that there is no access to the site within 2 hours, you can setup a cron job to make a request to homepage your site (for example every 1 hour) to make sure the process is triggered
You can contact your hosting provider and ask them to guide setup cron job if needed
Regards,
Tuan

It's all working fine. All the subscriptions end at the same time so once the first 100 reminders are sent out members start visiting the site to renew. That keeps it active and the remaining reminders are sent.
