New Subscriptions with Expiry Date - pre-signup grace period was created by Jenny McCormick
Hi,
All of our plans are 12 months duration and have an expiry date of 30/04 to match the end of our membership year.
When new members sign up to one of these plans a few days before the expiry date, their subscription end date is set to the expiry date, even though it is only a couple of days away. They will then need to go back into the site and renew their subscription after a few days otherwise it will expire - or we need to manually go in, change the date, and ask them for the additional amount for a full year membership.
There is currently a Grace Period field to allow members to continue to use the site after their membership has expired.
Would it be possible to have a pre-signup Grace Period as well such that if someone signs up to a subscription a few days before the expiry date (within the pre-signup grace period) they will instead be granted a full year subscription. This option could be enabled/displayed when the Expiry Date field is set, the same as the Pro-Rata field.
If this is currently possible, can you please point me in the right direction as I can't see where this would be done.
Thanks

Hello Kylie
No, we don't support that option. However, there is a way to handle this. When the current time reach this period, all you need is edit the plan, set Expired Date to next year and it should be fine

Tuan

Tuan,
I'm not sure you understand. I realise we will need to edit the plans each year to change the Expired date to the next year.
Here is my issue;
For example,
Currently, the expired date is set to 30/04/2019
If someone signs up for a 12 month subscription on 28/04/2019, they pay a prorata amount for the 2 days remaining of that plan. Then, 2 days later, on 30/04/2019, their subscription is expired and they need to renew.
It would be good if you could add an option to allow a period of time before the expiry, say 30 days (but admin configured), such that if someone signs up in that 30 day period before the expiry date, e.g. 30/03/2019 - 30/04/2019, that they are automatically given a full 12 month subscription.
I hope this makes the issue a bit clearer.
Thanks

Hi
Yes. I understand. As I said, you can just edit the plan, set Expired Date to 30/04/2019 to 30/04/2020 to avoid this from happening
Of course it will require you to make the change manually but it will work fine
