PayPal Subscriptions that expire due to change of credit card

For many years when PayPal subscriptions expire due to a change of credit card, it has not been too much of a problem before we had a MembershipPro solution.

Are there any best practice or process i can follow when this happens.

Typically we get a Payment skipped email and I would like to find a way of re-establishing the subscription, and retain the MembershipPro details/account etc.

Any suggestions ?
