Synconise email address

I have seen that if a member or admin change an email address in the MP profile, it is not updated in Joomla user core record.
Is this correct and as intended?
I have the setting in Confiuration set to yes.

Hi David

1. That setting actually uses for different purpose: When you set it to Yes and someone update his email via Joomla core users management (edit account), the email will be updated to all of his subscription record

2. For updating email from Membership Pro to Joomla user account:

- It will happens when someone access to his user profile page in Membership Pro membershipprodoc.joomservices.com/frontend-items/user-profile and update his email from there
- It won't happen when admin edit a subscription record and change the email yet. Maybe we should do that, too, in the future

Thank you for the explanation. I am pleased to know that the core will update when a member changes profile.
I agree it would be useful for the same with admin, but at least i know and can remember to do both records.
I am assuming that all the Joomla core field behave in the same way.

Just to confirm again, does this apply to passwords? I am using standard Joomla for login. Should I use something else in order to access the MP database?

Hi David

Don't worry, update password via Membership Pro will update Joomla! user password, too (Password is managing by Joomla !, not Membership Pro). When subscribers change their password, Membership Pro just calls Joomla API to update password

Hi Tuan,

I does not appear that there is an email check when the user updates their email using front-end profile edit. I just edited a user in the front end and changed their email to an existing one. Instead of an error message, it processed the change in MP (but not in joomla). So not MP shows one email address and Joomla shows another. I have sync email set. It works if the email is unique, but not if it is a duplicate.

You do have an email check in your initial registration form. Can you implement the same check in the front end edit?

I am still hoping to have the sync from MP back end updates to joomla on email addresses. This is giving me grief with data loaders
