Advice please - Changing to automatic recurring subscriptions

Just looking for some advice please, gratefully received!

I have a client who has a few hundred subscribers to their website, with two plans, an annual and a monthly subscription.

We use Stripe as our payment gateway.

Until now members have always just manually renewed when their subscription expires, but my client wants to automate this renewal process to retain as many subscribers as possible.

We are running Membership Pro 2.16.0.

So I can see on both plans that we can tick the box to enable "Recurring Settings" which then reveals a trial period section (we don't want any free trial period).

And I know we need to add the WebHook to Stripe, so that all seems easy.

My question is two fold;

1) Is that really all we need to do to get this all to work?
2) How to subscribers cancel their recurring agreement if they wish to or what happens when their credit card expires?

In case card expired, Stripe could not process payment and in this case, subscription will become expired and users need to re-subscribe to become active subscribe again
