Duplicate subscriptions

Is there a way of stopping folk from signing up to a plan if they already have an active subscription.

Actually, when he sign up for second time, the system will treat that subscription as renewal

If you want to prevent them from renewing too early, go to Membership Pro -> Configuration, set Allow membership renewal X days before subscription expired (X is a textbox input), enter 10 into that textbox for example

After that, subscribers can only renew their subscription 10 days before his subscription expired, not earlier

It might solve your concern

The problem I am having is they are signing up for a different plan.... e.g they already have a 12 month plan and then sign up for a 3 month recurring plan. Just causes work that is not needed

So you are saying that you don't want them to have active subscriptions of different plans at same time?

Each time, they should only have one active subscription?

As all of my plans are for the same thing but different billing periods - Yes. but I can that this would not work for others.

If I understand your requirement correctly, you can try the setup below:

1. Go to Membership Pro -> Categories, create a new category, set Exclusive Plans parameter to Yes

2. Assign all plans you want into that category

By doing that, each time, users can only have active subscription of only one plan from that category and it might solve your issue
