Down grade customer does not change time

Good Day

I have a test customer that I down graded from a life time plan to a 10 day plan but the subscription is showing a start date/end date of 02-27-2018 To 12-31-2099.
Is this a bug? or how can I/should I downgrade a customer?

The question is how did he downgrade his subscription/membership?

Thanks for getting back to me.
I am in the test phase of MP
I created a free life time plan and created a account for my self yesterday and signed up for that account.
I then today as admin I went to the MP control panel selected "MP > Subscriptions"
Clicked on the "First Name"(Dave) this brought me to the "Edit Subscription" page.
I then selected a new plan from the "Plan" drop down list and clicked "Apply" then "Save"

Hi Dave

Unfortunately, we don't handle this time change while editing the subscription record. So if you edit the record, and change the plan, please change the subscription start date and subscription end date manually (and maybe payment amount, too)

OK Dave. For now, please change it manually as I said. There are other items I want to work on first, so this one will take low priority
