Is there a way to set a grace period for lapsed subscriptions?

we wanted to allow users to have access to the site resources for 90 days passed their subscription lapsing.

is there a way to do this?

There is no way to do that at the moment. If you restrict access to resources, subscribers can only access to it when their subscription is still active. If subscription expired, they cannot access to it anymore
