Manual Update - correct steps? was created by vthomas
What is the process for manual update? I am unzipping file then trying to install: com_osmembership.zip
Is that the correct file to upload for the update?
For some reason, one of my sites will not update via Joomla update feature. I get these errors:
Warning: Update path does not exist.
Message: Error updating COM_INSTALLER_TYPE_TYPE_.
I tried to update manually, but got this error:
There was an error uploading this file to the server. Unable to find install package
Now, the Joomla update worked just fine on another site, so I know this isn't the update package. I did confirm the download ID was correct.

Correct step would be go to Extensions -> Manage -> Install, click on Or browse for file to select the com_osmembership.zip package to install and it should work well
If it doesn't, I guess there is permission issue with installation on your site, so maybe you could not install other extensions as well
Regards,
Tuan

Thank you for confirming I was trying to upload the correct file.
In this case, I think what happened was related to the server account being at the size limit. I did check/fix permissions via Admin Tools and that did not fix. So, I check the server account and saw it was at the size limit (not my server, I don't get notifications). I deleted some old backups to fix that ... then the software update worked as expected.
Thank you, Vicky
