Change required fields for Membership was created by Gary Bashor
I am working on a site that has a free membership that only needs name, email and password. I would like to have that subscription NOT require all of the information that is required by default.
Is there a way to change that by type of subscription plan?
I tried to access the documentation server but am getting server errors and can't search that.
Thanks.

I have the same requirements and I just use standard joomla accounts for the free users and don't bother giving them MP subscriptions.

That makes some sense. Be nice to have it all in one place, but keeping it simple may be an easier method.

Hi Gary
1. Use standard Joomla account registration as Allan suggested is one of the option
2. The other option (which allows everything is handled by Membership Pro) is:
- Create a free subscription plan. Mark it as Lifetime subscription plan
- Go to Membership Pro -> Custom Fields, for the fields which you don't want to be available for that free plan, edit it, select the plans you want (the idea is that you can assign custom field to the plans you want, so subscription form of each plan can have it own set of custom fields)
Regards,
Tuan

Thanks Tuan - I used this last suggestion and it is really the best solution so that all memberships are handled via one component!
