This might be something new that maybe arose from recent Joomla updates..? The biggest issue is that the automated emails can't be directed in a personal manner to subscribers. Basically, Membership Pro is using the characters before '@' in the user's email for the first name and characters after '@' for the last name. So, if my email address is ace123@gmail.com, my first name would be ace123 and my last name would be gmail.com. This is showing when looking at subscribers in the MP>admin>subscriptions and also when generating emails with [FIRST_NAME] & [LAST_NAME].
A little side question... no tags for email that would generate the Joomla user ID is there? Just wondering because it would b convenient to throw it into a URL for using with PHP functionality - like example.com/unsubscribe?user= [USER_ID]

I'll answer my own question; at least as far as the first and last name tags. I had unpublished those fields under the OSMP fields because I didn't want them messing with the Joomla registrations (already have 3000 registrations existing before MP). Seems to be fine with them published and the tags work now.

Hi Tim
For USER ID, you can just use [USER_ID] tag. It will be replaced with ID of the user account

Tuan

That's awesome, Tuan. That will make it a little less painful for my client to deal with subscription cancellation requests since he's not using PayPal pro... And they don't allow for cancellations directly from the website. I can have it send him an email with the info he needs to manually cancel it in his PayPal account. Do you know off hand if they will send a notification to MP when someone cancels their subscription? If not I can just run a php script to end it at the end of their subscription period probably.

Hi Tim
If someone cancels recurring subscription from his PayPal account, Membership Pro will send notification to both admin and subscribers about that cancellation
