Retain Membership Expiry Date was created by Mike
Hi Tuan,
We use membership pro for a client who is a trade body - they want to retain the original membership expiry date in all scenarios (i.e. whether someone renews early, on time or late). All their memberships are for 1 year but starting / expiry dates are spread out over the year depending on when they originally joined.
If someone pays late, at the moment they go into the subscription and manually change the expiry date back to what it was. However, the automatic emails that get sent out have the incorrect date on and can confuse members.
I notice in version 2.10 that has just been release there is an option to 'Update Subscription' instead of create new subscription. Will that retain the original expiry date?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
Unfortunately, the option could not be used for this case. Could you please explain more details about Retain Membership Expiry Date, how it works?
Give us a sample current subscription from date - to date and what happens when someone renew his membership (what would be the date of new subscription) so that I can think about it to see whether it is possible (would need some customization, I am afraid of)

Hi Tuan,
Thanks for the reply.
They have a number of different levels of subscription but they are all 1 year. As an example of what they want, if a new member subscribes on 1st August 2016 then their subscription expiry date is 1st August 2017. That member is late on renewing and renews on 10th August 2017 - they want the new expiry date to be 1 year on from when their original subscription expired (i.e. 1st August 2018) and not 1 year from when they renewed (i.e. 10th August 2018).
At the moment they would go into that member's subscription and manually change the expiry date from 10th August 2018 to 1st August 2018.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
Unfortunately, Membership Pro doesn't have a way to handle this option. So if you want it to be automatically, some customization will be needed. I am afraid of this customization will cost you about 80$
So if it is not really needed, have them to handle it manually for now
Regards,
Tuan
