membership pro integration was created by Eddie
Hello,
I have a Kunena forum built in my website. I purchased your Membership Pro with hopes I can make it work with the forum component.

Basically, what I'm trying to accomplish is this.

1) A free membership would require a user to create an account, and once created, would have the ability to only 'browse' the forum.
2) A paid membership would require a user to create an account, and once created, and then allow that user to have the ability to post a thread, reply to a thread etc.... full access to the forum.

Currently, the user would have to purchase the membership, then create an account on the forum.

Is this possible to use the 2 components in that capacity?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Eddie

That depends on how Kunena forum handle permission. If they allow you to select which groups can only view forums, what groups can post topics on Forum, then it is possible

The idea is that when someone subscribers for your plans, you can config the system so that they will be assigned to certain Joomla user groups you want - maybe calling that group as Paid Members, see membershipprodoc.joomservices.com/joomla-groups-integration . Then config Kunena forum to only allow users from that Paid Members group to post on your forum while other user groups can only view

Not sure if you get my idea? I don't understand Kunena forum enough to know whether it is possible. So maybe you can ask this question on Kunena forum so that the developer can give you the answer?

Thank you fro the information.

Yes I understand what you are saying. However, the issue I will run up against is if a user registers for a FREE membership, they will have access to the forum. Once at the forum, they will need to create another log in profile for the forum, which gives them access to everything, when all I want them to have is viewing rights (not editing or publishing rights) as a paid member would have.

I hope this makes sense.

So when a user clicks on "Create New Account" on the Kunena forum, they will be directed to a page where they have to either sign up for a FREE membership, or a PAID membership. Then they will either be able to view the forum using their FREE membership or have full access using their PAID membership.

I understand you are limited to your ability on the Kunena knowledge.

I posted on the Kunena as well, but I'm not getting much attention there :(

Thank you Tuan,

If you worry that users subscribe directly via Kunena, you can restrict them from accessing to that URL using this method membershipprodoc.joomservices.com/resour...ss-to-any-pages-urls

That should work and solve your concern

Thank you for the info so far, its been very helpful.

However, I have a new problem.

As stated above, I am using Membership Pro to create a paid membership site.

A user subscribes to a membership (Free or Paid) and creates an account. From here, the user is now included in the MP (Membership Pro) "Subscriptions" and in Joomla Users and Kunena users.

The problem lies in activating the assigned user with in the Membership pro. I have to go in manually and assign a user group to the new user - see the screen shot - is it possible, while creating the account it automatically is assigned a user?

The user cannot use the site until a super admin come in and assigns a user. That seems a little nightmare-ish. Am I missing something or will this always be a manual process?

You don't have to assign user to groups manually. It should be automatically, unless there is something wrong with your setup

So you are saying that when users subscribe via Membership Pro, there is no user group assigned to their account?

Please submit a support ticket sending us:

1. Super admin account of the site
2. Link to subscription form

We are going to check to see why it happens and get it sorted
