Adding New Subscription Issue was created by Chris Jarvis
Hello
I upgraded to the new version of Membership Pro yesterday.
Firstly want to say I'm loving the option of showing fields on the Profile to our members and choosing if they can edit them or not.
Thanks Tuan this is great.
Second point though is since I upgraded to the new version. Now if you go to Subscriptions in the backend of our website and it defaults to All Plans and shows everyone we have. When you click the New button, a message appears saying 'Please select a subscription plan to add new subscription'.
You then have to select a plan to filter current subscriptions to that plan and then click New for that to work. This is proving a hassle as every new plan we have to add may be different each time.
You did do me some custom work a while ago to make the select a plan field a required field and show a red balloon error message if we don't select one on the Add New Subscription page and I am not sure if this is affecting things and don't want to lose that at all.
It was working great up until me upgrading.
I have added the message in a image below but it is only when you click New on the ALL Plans filter.
Just to confirm: I have checked my Test website which is still on Membership Pro 2.9.0 and clicking Add New works perfectly and as expected but my Live site that is now on 2.10.0 gives the message asking to pick a plan first.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris
I don't remember exactly the reason but this is a feature asked by customers. We have to force you to choose a plan in plan list filter before going to subscription form so that when we go to subscription form, all the necessary custom fields assign to that custom fields will be displayed to allow users to enter data (please note that in Membership Pro, one plan can have different custom fields with other plans)

Sorry to hear that Tuan as this now makes adding new subscriptions take way longer than before and is open to mistakes of searching previous subscribers too.
Instead of being able to search for any member on all plans, find they don't exist and click New, select their new plan, add them, save and finish, search again for someone else, find they don't exist and click New, select their plan as you enter details.
You now have to choose All plans, search the name, see they don't exist, then select a plan for them, then click New, then enter their details, click save. Then reset the filter from the previous plan to ALL plans so you don't miss people who might be changing plans, search for the next person, if they don't exist, then select their plan again and then click New.
I'm also worried that if someone doesn't remember to always select ALL plans again as a filter between adding many subscriptions they might search for a name under one plan, it comes back blank so they just add a new subscriptions to the wrong plan.
I thought the previous way was way better that you could add anyone after searching ALL Plans either by renewing them or changing their plan or clicking Add New and selecting any available plan against their Subscription page.
I might be misunderstanding things so please let me know of an easier way to add subscriptions in when we have a lot of different ones to add manually through the back end site.

Now you see developing extensions are hard work. We could not make everyone happy. If I make it works like you described, then some other customers won't happy and will ask me to fix it and vice versa
You can get this file, unzip it, upload to administrator/components/com_osmembership/view/subscriptions/tmpl folder, then check it again
If it works as expected, then you can upload this file to administrator\templates\isis\html\com_osmembership\subscriptions folder so that the change won't be lost when you update

I don't envy you at all Tuan.
With customers like me I wouldn't do as well as you do.
But this is what makes you and your team so special and different.
You DO ALWAYS manage to keep us ALL happy. Like supplying the file below to test.
I will give it a try and come back to you.
Thanks for coming back to me so quickly and thanks again for the Edit on Profile option to the Custom Fields - SUPERB!

Of course it works Tuan
You wrote it!!!
It works superb and is perfect thanks.
Sorry about the delay with the update back to you - I have been out of the office today.
The only thing is, I copied it to the first location you suggested and it worked great.
When I came to save the file to the override location after seeing it worked, there is no /com_osmembership/subscriptions in the administrator/templates/isis/html folder
Do I need to create those folders first?
Thanks as always Tuan - You do ALWAYS manage to keep us all happy with your extensions

Yes. You have to create the folder manually yourself
