update membership pro from 1.5 to 2.9

I have membership pro 1.5.4 (used for 3 years and has records) and recently bought 2.9.0
Can I install new version on previous, simply through Joomla installer or there is a manual to prevent data loss?

Yes. You can simply install new version over old version. All your existing data will be kept

To be safe, before upgrade, you should make a full backup of your site using Akeeba Backup so that in case there is something wrong, you can easily roll back to earlier state
