Renew early - 2 active accounts

This might be really basic but just want to check, cannot see confirmation in documentation.
Testing a user who has renewed early.
Now has 2 active accounts, one until 30 June, one from 1 July (to 30 June).
Will this user get the 14, 4 and 1 day reminders because the current account is still active.
Or does the one from 1 July cancel the reminder messages.
I realise this is a fundamental aspect of a membership system, but I hope they do not get reminders when paying early.
