Hello Stephen
No, you don't need to purchase PayPal Pro payment plugin.Just the PayPal standard Payment Plugin (comes with Membership Pro by default) should be enough
PayPal Pro allows subscribers to enter credit card information directly on your site for processing payment. However, it requires additional things like monthly fee (charged by PayPal), SSL certificate, and you need to be in some countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia to use PayPal Pro
Most of our customers just use the PayPal Payment Standard
Regards,
Tuan
