Renewals vs Returning (Expired) Members was created by intouchweb
Tuan, I would like to clarify how to deal with 'returning members' as opposed to 'renewals' (and it may also clarify for others as it can be a little confusing).
By returning members I mean people who had a past subscription but let it lapse, and now they wish to start up again (it could be years later).
In this example, assume all subscriptions are set to calendar years.
Members are only able to 'renew' during a fixed renewal period (say from 1st October to 31st March).
So ... the renewal period is set in the Configuration Settings as "92 days before the subscription expired" ie allowing renewals from the 1st October each year). If they login during the renewal period they see a link allowing them to easily "Renew Now".
BUT if they do NOT renew their subscription by 31st March their membership lapses and they then become 'expired members" and lose certain priveleges.
Importantly though, their account remains on the database, so they can still login, which is good just in case they RETURN one day and want to restart their membership.
BUT... if a 'returning member' comes back in say June after letting the subscription lapse, can they still log in and RENEW their old membership for the current year? Will the RENEW NOW option still be available/visible to them, even though we are now outside of the fixed renewal period?
They are not technically renewing, they are returning from a past subscription.
Can you clarify the situation here please?
Thanks

I believe the answer is this - returning members will ALWAYS see a RENEW NOW link in their profile after logging in, even outside of a defined "renewal period".
