Member Migration Notification Best Practices was created by slomas
I'm seeking best practices and perhaps some fresh ideas for how to handle the following scenario...
We are preparing to migrate several thousand members from a legacy platform to MembershipPro. The issue we are facing is around passwords. For whatever reason, the legacy platform will not allow our client to export their current user passwords, which would afford a seamless switchover. Instead, we will have to generate new passwords and notify all members of this fact.
We want to manage this notification process asynchronously from the act of importing and creating the passwords. I understand that we can turn off notification before we import, to prevent users from being notified during import. My question is what's the bnest way to provide members with their new information.
Is there an provision to do mass notification/mail-merge from within MembershipPros? Or do we need to use an external email platform to accomplish this?
Forgive me if this should be obvious, but I just haven't had to do this for past clients. Any suggestions or a nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Thanks, SL

Just curious how others have handled this. Thoughts?

Hello
Unfortunately, Membership Pro doesn't have a way to handle Mass Mail like that, so I am afraid of you will have to use a third party extension like ACYMailing to send newsletter to inform users about the new information
The difficult way is the password information. The password in Joomla is encrypted, so there is no extension can detect the raw password and send it to your users. For this case, honestly, I don't know how to handle it

I have the same issue exporting data from s2 Member Pro in Wordpress and importing it into Membership Pro, but only 600+.
Did you find a solution?
Maybe emailing them all to login to the new site and reset their passwords?
Be interested to find out if and how you solved it
