Membership Subscription and Later Cancellation

Has anyone ever addressed the situation where you allow for a recurring subscription and then the later user cancels or the subscription ends and the subscription is over. They pay through paypal but not with a paypal account. How do they cancel or end the automatic payments from occurring?

I was wondering the same thing. Is it as simple as changing the status of the subscription to cancelled-refunded? Or does it have to be deleted manually at PayPal? Or both?

If you use PayPal payment standard, the recurring payment will need to be cancelled at PayPal. The reasons is because PayPal doesn't have an API to allow us to cancel recurring payment from within your site.

If you want to allow subscribers to cancel recurring subscription from within your site, you need to use one of the payment gateways which support it:

1. PayPal Pro (only available for US, UK, Canada and Australia)

2. Authorize.net

3. Stripe
