Account activated without payment

Hi,

I don't understand how the activation of account by mail works. I have created 2 kinds of subscription:
1) Free subscription during few days with full access to website for trying.
2) Subscription plan with payment by paypal.

Now with the current configuration, for a free subscription, the mail with link to activate the account is sent, all works as expected. With payment by paypal, if customer close the paypal login form (thus without payment), the activation mail is sent and customer account is created. The account is in pending into MemberShip but the customer can accessed to website as if he had paid.

In fact I wish than subscriptions (free or not) operates as what is found on many sites. For free subscription the account is validated by link on email (In the current configuration it is OK). In case of payment by paypal the email for validate the account is sent only when payment has been automaticaly validated by Paypal.

Could you help me to found the right configuration.

Go to Membership Pro -> Configuration, find the config option "Only create user account when membership active/approved", set it to Yes

And in this case, Membership Pro will only create account for subscribers after he complete payment for the subscription

However, there is one limitation in this case. With this case, Membership Pro won't sent activation email to subscriber. The account will be activated automatically after he completed payment. Not sure if that's OK for you

I have already tried this solution, it is Ok for subscription with payment but there are a limitation regarding free subscription. In this case the email is never send and thus account cannot be activated by users.
I search a solution to bypass this limitation, I you have an idea.... don't hesitate

For free subscription, account should be activated automatically by Membership Pro as well. It doesn't work like that in your case?

I think I realize this limitation now and will try to address this issue in the future. However, I think it will take us from 2 to 3 weeks to have it implemented properly in Membership Pro. Hope that's OK for you

Yes, in case of free subscription, the account is automatically activated by Membership.

Of my point of view, in the aim to reduce the maintenance workload for Subscriber database in case of lot of number of subscriber, with in addition the risk of creation of ghost account in spite of capchca, I prefere than the account should be activated by feedback on email. After accounts not validated after few hours are automatically deleted. I think than the implementation of this enhancement is a good evolution for the product.
I can wait without problem 2 or 3 week for this evolution.
