some question about the renew of subscription

I have some question about the renew of subscription.
When I renews subscription before expiring, the first keeps active, it is normal??
The user will receive the allert of expiring first subscription, or he will not receive couse he renewed already?
In configuration of subsription Allow membership renewal is 2 days.
