100% off coupon causes error with paypal

I have a coupon code to have people sign up and get it free. I made a 100% off coupon. when signing up for the account and applying the code it works. after submitting, it goes to paypal as an error page and the transaction looks like it dies. In fact the transaction has gone through, but how do I make it show that its worked out right with a free coupon? Thank you.

Right now, the extension doesn't allow 100% coupon discount with recurring subscription plans as for recurring subscriptions, the system requires that payment continues happens automatically so that it can extend the subscription of the subscriber

I will try to give an option to allow this feature in the next release of the extension. However, please give us 2 more weeks to work on it

ok, that's fine with me. could you suggest a workaround that would work for giving away a paid membership for free.
